Interdisciplinary Applications of Circuits and Systems
Circuit design is not only relevant for electrical engineering. It can also be applied to interdisciplinary projects that require electrical input, output, or control, such as robotics, biomedical devices, renewable energy, and smart systems.
Through the interdisciplinary projects, the designer must understand the project goals and requirements, as well as the roles of other team members. Therefore, communication with collaborators is essential, as is the use of common standards and tools to ensure compatibility. For example, when designing circuits for robotics, simulation tools like MATLAB or Simulink can be used to test and optimize circuits before implementing them on hardware. When creating biomedical signal processing systems, specialized tools can be used to acquire and analyze data. Arduino or Raspberry Pi can be used to program and connect smart system circuits.
In the framework of this CAS Seasonal School call, a 2-day school on “Interdisciplinary Applications of Circuits and Systems”, will be organized.
In this educational event, basic and advanced issues on design methodologies targeting on interdisciplinary applications will be presented, (indicatively) including the following: circuits and systems in biology/biomedicine, in cryptography, in control systems, in renewable energy systems, in RF applications, in Internet of Things (IoT) systems, in quantum computing, as well as the employment of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques for designing circuits.
This School brings together leading experts from academia and semiconductor industry, related to the topics of the School, some of which are prominent members of the CAS society.
In relation to the proposed seasonal school quality and success, feedback will be provided from the students’ vs the school presented topics through an online appraisal form.
