Bordeaux Summer School - Innovative technologies and clinical applications in cancer research
The “Innovative technologies and clinical applications in cancer research” summer school welcomes graduate and doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows, researchers and professionals.
While breast cancer remains a critical focus, the programme extends its reach to encompass biomedical tools, biosensors, biotechnologies and broader interdisciplinary approaches in diagnostics and treatment. The event also emphasizes fostering entrepreneurial skills and addressing gender balance in academia and industry.
In 2020, breast cancer accounted for 2.26 million cases globally, ranking as the most prevalent cancer type worldwide. In Europe, it constitutes 13.3% of all cancer cases, making it the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women and the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths across genders (7.3% of fatalities). The development of advanced diagnostic tools and treatment monitoring systems tailored to individual patient needs is an urgent priority.
Throughout this five-day programme, participants will explore cutting-edge innovations in multimodal biosensors for diagnosing cancer and monitoring therapeutic responses, as well as their potential applications in broader biomedical technologies. In addition, the summer school is organised within the framework of the Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Network "CanDoIt" project, thus offering participants insights into interdisciplinary high-tech tools and fostering collaboration across fields.
