Petro of Oakland University
Generation of subterahertz frequency pulses in an antiferromagnet using thermal pumping
Biography:
Petro Yu. Artemchuk graduated in Applied Physics from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine, in 2015. He later received the master’s degree in Radio Physics and Electronics in 2017 and the PhD degree in Applied Physics and Nanomaterials in 2022, both from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. He is currently an international student at Oakland University pursuing the PhD degree in Applied and Computational Physics. His current research is in the area of Bose-Einstein condensation of magnons and nonlinear interaction between magnons. Research interests include nonlinear magnetization dynamics and spin-wave interaction.

Joe of Wayne State University
Engineering static and dynamic properties into antiferromagnetic metamaterials
Biography:
Joseph Sklenar received his B.S. in Physics from Case Western Reserve University in 2009 and his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 2015, where he worked with John Ketterson. He conducted research at Argonne National Laboratory with Axel Hoffmann (2014–2015) and was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2015–2019) with Peter Schiffer and Nadya Mason. Since 2019, he has been an Assistant Professor at Wayne State University. His research group focuses on magnetic metamaterials, designing thin-film heterostructures with tunable magnon interactions. He uses magnetic resonance spectroscopy to study magnon energy spectra at GHz to THz frequencies, supported by micromagnetic simulations. His work contributes to hybrid quantum magnonics and the development of tunable microwave and sub-THz technologies.
